I have been completely neglecting this blog!

I have also been away on holidays for about 3.5 weeks - and while I was away a lot happened.

Here are a few updated pictures:

I am really really happy with everything, I had been very nervouse about the colour of the walls, but it looks really great!

I've been told handover is less than 3 weeks away but I should get some dates tomorrow!

I need to organise some fences!!!

Cabinets!!!

Quickly popped down to the site last night and found these!!!

This is probabaly the most excited I have been so far!  The kitchen has such a huge impact on a house and I had become increasingly nervous about the colour selections I had made way back in December last year!!

I am over the moon - it all looks fabulous, and I am not even more excited about my butlers pantry than I was before.

I also met my SS at the site on Tuesday and although we have had a few small delays he thinks we are on track now.  He also said he was happy for me to get my timber floors and carpet in prior to handover - which is fabulous news (I'm doing these myself to save money on having timber throughout).  I thought PD would be tough on having my own tradies on site - but apparently no probelm!!

I have walls!

Drove down last night after work as I had received my lockup invoice and wanted to make sure it really was done!

To my surprise I looked through the window and I had walls...this was probabaly the most excited I have been since I first saw my slab!

I think everyone is right - it does feel a lot bigger once there are walls - this place is huge!!

Excuse the quality of these pics - I only had my IPhone and it was getting dark.

Bricks finished!

Well I drove down on the weekend and the bricks are finished and the timber folding door inside has been installed!

It's very exciting but it means I will be at lock up soon and have to hand over more money!

We have bricks!

The bricks have been my only hiccup with this build so far - and if this is all I have to put up with - than I will stay a happy camper.

I received a phone call from Porter Davis to say that Austral were not happy with the quality of the bricks that I had selected, and it would be up to 2 months before a new batch was ready.  I had two choices......wait, or reselect.

with the help of some fellow Saltwater Coasters I was able to determine some bricks that I loved and quickly changed to Homestead Tan.  Ok - I also hd to pay an additional $500 or so - as they were one category higher - but I was very happy.

Only problem was, that because of the one week delay this caesed - we lost the brickies.....but one more week and the bricks arrived, the next day...so did the brickies.  The even worked on a Saturday to catch up - so I was very pleased.

This is a from 28th August - I can't have to wait until this weekend to see how much more progress they have made.

I'm going to skip all the very boring photos I took for the first six months of my build and get straight down to it - here is my new house!

I'm loving those timber front windows that broke the budget........

 Here they are up close...ahhhhh....windows!!!!

These would have originally been in the study - but I removed the wall between the study and the master bedroom so I could just have one enormous room - so now both front timber windows will be part of the master bedroom.

I'm starting to get a feel what the house will look like from the street - I was worried the 14m block would look too small, but so far it is looking really good.

In August last year I decided to make a change and sell my home. There was nothing at all wrong with my home – so why sell? Good question!

I needed new rooms to decorate! I needed a change!

You see, by day I work in Superannuation – the Finance Industry….but deep inside I know I’m really an Interior Decorator (or at least wish I was). I have always loved decorating my rooms – even when I was young I would move my furniture around every week - I must have driven my poor parents mad.

The first thing I did was enrol in an interior design course – I hoped this might settle me a bit (even if I had already finished with every room in my house – some of the several times over). It did – for about 5 minutes.

After visiting display homes just for fun (um, to steal design tips) I realised – I wanted one! Specifically I wanted a Butlers Pantry, a Walk in Robe and a Laundry (I had a laundry in a cupboard in the old house).

That’s was it, my mind was made up – there was no stopping me. I had to find land!

After a lot of searching (I won’t bore you with the details) I ended up falling in love with Saltwater Coast in Point Cook……..now I just had to put my house on the market.

And I did – and I sold it within 2 weeks for WAY over what I thought I would get for it. (If you are every thinking of selling I highly recommend Ian Reid Vendor Advocacy – it’s free and awesome!)

I had a 120 settlement – now it was time to buy that land and choose a new house.

Land was easy – just hand over the deposit – then wait………

The house – well my goodness, I think I visited every single display home in Victoria (well almost!).

I’d purchased a narrow lock (14m wide) so the only thing I really wanted to make sure of was that the Alfresco was at the rear of the house – to make use of the space at the back of the block – this proved to be a huge challenge!

After a lot of searching, and changing my mind several times, I finally decided on the Jasper 29 by Porter Davis, and handed over my $1000 deposit.

And then it began………
